The-Deer-And-The-Jennywren

The name of my blog derives from my Etsy shop of which I have huge ambition for to be a success. It may not seem it now, due to ill health, but I have so, so many ideas and half completed projects that have yet to see the light of day within my little shop. I hope to have some of them completed and ready for you to purchase in the near future. These pieces are created to showcase what I, myself, depict as ideals of beauty and I hope that you are able to see it too. From black and white silhouettes to ditsy floral antique coloured pieces to intricate Victorian inspired designs: I will create it all. Here are some of the things currently for sale in the shop & some that I've sold in the past.

Pink and black birdy design available in a double and single

And some sold out designs:

"Tweet Dreams" birdy design

"Oh Little Bird" Ditsy floral cushion

And if you think that it's only cushions and pillow cases that I create then you are very much mistaken. I have a whole variety of beautiful and stunning home wares that are in the pipeline. So keep your eyes peeled for those! :)

I Love You Deer

Will you be my Valentine?

A cheap, simple and effective Valentine's gift. The boy seemed to be chuffed with my efforts anyway, even if they are quite shoddy xD

How did you treat your other half?

Oh Deer!

Today I decided to get my craft on and make some bunting for my bookshelf.

I've since decided to tea stain it to give it a more antique look and so that it stands out from my bookshelf. It was extremely cheap and easy to achieve. I may actually add some to my Etsy shop :)

To do it yourself you'll need paper doilies, ribbon, glue, bits of haberdashery, and patience :)

Simple!

Hope you like x

Up-cycling Recyclables

In my New Year's Resolution post I said I was going to craft more to help be more creative and save money. Today I gave some empty jars a new lease of life, seeing as they would just end up in the recycle bin anyway! (don't judge my Smart price 'cos I'm skint!...)

Jam jar became this lovely little pencil pot

Pasta sauce jar became storage for some of my buttons

All it involved was washing out the remnants and scraping off the labels in hot water. Add a bit of ribbon and viola! Useful things :)

One day I might make a post about my craft room... when it isn't a complete tip and things are more organised and hung on walls etc. Anyone who is in any way organised would have a complete fit if they saw the state of that room. I need to completely sort out my storage because I'm not even joking when I say I could start up my own haberdashery! Seems that as I can't have cats to be a crazy cat lady I've developed a serious textile problem in its place and am now a crazy textile lady!

Oh dear.
Also adding stuff to Ebay so take a peek here!

Falling Snow

I hate snow. Grumble.

But aside from that, I've had one of the best weekends I've had in a long while. It was much needed and thanks to brilliant company was very relaxing and generally lovely. On Sunday the boyfriend had a race in Sheffield, or rather, Rother Valley Country Park, so we decided to make the most of it and stay over in a hotel. On the Saturday, after stupid road diversions in Lincoln, we spent the day with friends in Meadowhall until 10pm when it closed. I bought quite a bit which you can refer to in my 'vlog' at the bottom of this post.

I brought a present for one of my friends who suffers from a chronic illness. I just wanted to make her happy, so I put together a little kit for her, for when it gets her down. It consisted of heart shaped hand warmers, which I stupidly didn't take a picture of but are basically this:

A mug which I tried the Sharpie DIY on, with a quote which was quite fitting after all she's been through. I then put some of her favourite sweets inside it :) Alongside this, I bought a little chest from the Lincoln Christmas Market which I filled with mini spoons that I got from an Ebay seller. For anyone who doesn't know the Spoon Theory go and have a read here. It's so helpful in explaining chronic illnesses to others, and will hopefully help you to see the joke :p

The next day I drove the boyfriend to his race. It was so cold that I opted to stay in the car and instead was distracted by taking photos of birds in trees because I have something of an obsession XD
And last but not least, here is my shopping haul video. I hope you like, and please leave feedback :)

Red Birds Escape From My Wounds And Return As Falling Snow

Hellooo :)

So how are we liking my new layout? I adore it! XD

I've been very, very busy recently whilst also being rather ill :( and in fact even though I had a welcome back at work today I can envision a trip to the hospital tomorrow as I think I may have gotten a rather nasty skin infection. Bloody brilliant timing with my birthday on Wednesday and going to Huddersfield on Tuesday for drinks and larks. Ugh. Stupid body :(

But yes, the new layout is to compliment the style of my Etsy shop which will be opening in due course, as soon as I take some product photos :)

I also graduated on Wednesday just gone. It was a beautiful day and there was lovely architecture, tea & cake, and later pizza... what more could one want?

I've also been purchasing bits and pieces (more Primark attire ;) ) and also a khaki coloured dress which I can't seem to find online, nor have a decent picture of so you'll just have to go without :p

And I've been getting my craft on XD by making a cork board message board. It is by no means perfect but I do love how it turned out <3

What do you think of my purchases and DIY? :)
