A New Year, A New Me.

So as we're drawing to the end of the year we often remember the good, bad and the ugly over the last 365 days. For me this year hasn't been my greatest health wise and I'm still battling now. I know that I most likely always will be fighting, but if there's any way that I can get at least some respite, I am determined to find it. Although my health has pretty much dominated me this year, it has been a fab year for other things. I graduated from Uni with a 2:1. I lost weight and am now the smallest I have ever been. I finally managed to secure a contract with work, small but permanent hours nonetheless!

So I thought I would make a list of some of the things I'm hoping to achieve in 2013.

  1. Get my craft on. I really love crafting, especially with textiles but my health doesn't really approve so my hobby has had to take a back seat. I am determined to do more though because it makes me happy. In fact I bought a crochet needle yesterday to inspire myself :)
  2. Start up an online shop. I did attempt to do this in the summer and actually have a couple of things up on Etsy but this has obviously had to be halted and needs publicizing. My Etsy shop.
  3. Become better at photography. I did do a photography module at University for catologuing and documenting historical objects but taking pictures of myself, with my camera seems to be a different ball game altogether! I did however buy a tripod so photos should be slightly improved from here on in!
  4. Apply to do a Masters course. I was actually accepted onto the Conservation of Historial Objects MA course here, but of course my health has taken over and I'm forced to reassess what career path would benefit my health as there is just too much that would deeply affect me if I were to become a conservator. I've decided that a curating roll may be better for me and am currently filling out an application form. I'll be sure to keep people posted on this :)
  5. Read more books. This is always something that I endeavour to do.
  6. See the people that matter to me more often. This can be a difficult one, what with my health being the way it is, but I have found myself being incredibly lonely this year. I want to make the most of the people who are willing to accept me for who I am.
  7. Voluntary work in museums. I haven't done this since 2011 and that is just too long in my opinion. So I will need to rectify this.
  8. Go abroad. I haven't been anywhere since my 21st birthday so it would be nice to travel. However, my boyfriend is doing a 1000km running challenge for charity this year so money will be very tight. To find out more and donate click here.
You should also expect to see changes to my blog. It doesn't look especially professional but I would like to change this soon. :)

Fire Above, Ice Below

As the boyfriend's parents live on the West coast of Norfolk I decided to venture into King's Lynn on boxing day. Managed to bag some lovely things! Including this Toshiba laptop, which the boyfriend actually paid for because he owed me money. Nice one.

It's superb. Though it has Windows 8 which I DESPISE!!! Seriously. Horrid, horrid, HORRID! As soon as he gets back from his parent's he's going to install Windows 7 for me because I just cannot get on with it.

I then popped into New Look and purchased a couple of dresses.

This is a size 14 but I've been wanting it since I first laid eyes on it and it was only £6! I reckon it'll be an easy job to take in on the old sewing machine.

This skater dress was £10. Another one I've had my beady eyes on. It's lovely <3

I then popped into Primark just to have a look at what they had to offer. I found this absolute beauty. £15 which I personally find steep for Primark but by gum is it perfection?!! <3

Yummy. And it's a lovely thickish material as well! Lastly I purchased this lovely thick green cable knit cardigan for £5 and the knee-high socks for £2.50.

Monochromatic Stains

Here are a few of the things I'm loving right now. Sale items of course!

- The baroque print skirt on the left is Motel but sadly they've sold out of my size :( my own fault for being cheap!

- The black and white dress at the top is from the Asos Petite range but I love the woodland print on it.

- The bottom lace one is a stunner by A Wear. Really considering splashing the pennies on that.

- The boots are by Faith and are currently half price at Debenhams. I love them a lot but not sure I can swallow the price of £38.50 so easily... I really am cheap :p

- Lastly I've been after a skirt like that for ages, it ruins the monochromatic theme but the colour makes it a beauty. I may or may not have just bought it as it's just over £4 inc p&p from an Ebay seller in China. Bargain!

All I want for Xmas is....

I thought I would write a post on Xmas gift ideas. Here are some of the things I have found for myself that I've taken from my Pinterest.

  1. I love the cat phone cover. It comes in a variety of different colours and is £5.99. My personal preference would be black.
  2. The salt & pepper pots are so cute and are only £4.49.
  3. The silicone cup cover is amazing. It has a suctioned bottom to prevent things falling into, or from spilling out of your mug or cup and is only £1.95!!!! A bloody bargain for one that has been made so pretty with a lace look edge and cat puller. Brilliant.
  4. I've been eyeing up these cat slippers since we got them in store. They're only £6.
  5. I love the shop Giveadogabone.co.uk, based in York, I always love to visit it. This clock is so pretty, and ticks all the Jenny boxes of being black & white and having a bird, with twigs! and is £9.99.
  6. Having moved into a new house with approximately 589589545 doors that shut on you, door stops are very much a required present for me and instead of buying a load of boring white ones for £1 I'd much prefer one that is good to look at. £11.99.
  7. Lastly, I adore this bag. I'm not sure it would work with my personal style but it's so nice and I would probably justify using it anyway. £39.99.

Full Moon

The day has arrived... the internet is finally here :D

Here is a picture of me from Saturday. I haven't ever dared wear this body con dress out without having a skirt over the top to hide a multitude of sins, yet since losing weight I've regained some confidence.

Can't believe Xmas is just over 2 weeks away, where has the year gone?!
